2004 see's the eagerly awaited arrival of Mettle Music's
new US based label 'Mettle Trax'. It's a been a long haul but after
5 years or so of releasing quality deep, jazzy grooves (and the
odd techier excursion as M Trax). It's time to strike out on their own..
The two producers pulling the strings behind the Mettle Music crew
are Nic Conef and Mark Wadsworth. Based within the fertile musical
melting pot of Manchester, England (check out their recent mix
compilation "Destination Manchester on Bar De Lune) where their
evocative sound has evolved consistently and confidently into
maturity since their first release as part of the Mettle Music Collective
back in June 1998 on Toko Records.

A & R duties for the new label are in the safe ears of Nic Conef with
distribution & US promotions taken care of by the equally adept
Olivier Desmet (of Amenti, Afterhours and Moulton fame).

So on with the show...

The first release 'Vida Mia' is a hi bred of Niles Rodgers funk, classic
Def Mixstyle production and sublime latin vocals by the excellent
Manchester based 'Malena'. Produced by the 'Southpaw Production'Õ
team of Kid Costa and Dan Funk, 'Malena' have already had a couple
of highly successful releases (Para Ti & Conmigo) on Neat Recordings
in collaboration with Jersey Street and C&M Productions.
Spanish vocalist Susana Montero & producer/flute/sax player Roger
Wickham (Kid Costa) also turn up on the new Mettle Music album
'Moodswings' (Bar De Lune) which is out nowr
just prior to first Mettle Trax single hitting the stores,

The second release Ebb - Be A Man concocts a sound likened by some
to Donna Summer meeting George Clinton and the Mad Professor in a cheap
Detroit motel for late night thrills. The original, already a firm favourite with
such diverse DJ's as Kenny Hawkes and Eric Morillo is due to be taken to
the next level with a storming club mix from Chris Lum (recently witnessed
jumping around the studio with excitement as he first listened to the track).
